So without the medical terms and lengthy definitions and symptoms with treatments I am going to tell you the recent medical diagnosis that I have been given. Because lets face it, if you are going to read my blog you may from time to time hear me whine about the issues I am having or things that I may have to go through sooner or later.
Intracranial Hypertension is--chronic intracranial hypertension is a neurological disorder in which the increased cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure has generally arisen and remains elevated over a sustained period of time. It can either occur without a detectable cause (idiopathic intracranial hypertension) or be triggered by an identifiable cause such as an underlying disease or disorder, injury, drug or cerebral blood clot (secondary intracranial hypertension). It is frequently a life-long illness with significant physical, financial and emotional impact.
There are many treatments that can be done to manage it, but the one that I am on currently and HATE is the most common. I am currently on a medicine named Diamox and I am also scheduled for a Spine tap the coming week to relieve pressure. I have to be on the Diamox because I stopped for 2 weeks (per doc orders) and I had a sudden onset of blurry vision when I got in to see her she said that it looked bad again so I had to start meds ASAP and have a spine tap right away!
So what does this do to me? This makes me sick to my stomach BAD and this makes me dizzy. It also makes me have terrible headaches and makes me very tired. I currently have been extremely dizzy and not able to do much other than sit because every time I get up I black out. So I got that out there just to make sure when you hear me whine about a bad day or medical proceeder that I have to do you will know why :)
